ABOUT THIS SANTA
The painting around his lower coat is where the artist spends the most time. It runs full circle. Deep green pine boughs hang with glossy baubles and gold bead garlands, and presents tied in gold ribbon sit on a snowy magenta floor. At the front, a painted dog sits up straight in a little red Santa hat and suit. It looks as if it is waiting for someone to open the first present. Up close you can see each pine needle painted in its own stroke of green, and the picture alone takes several days of work. The puppy in Santa's arms is carved together with the figure.
