Antique New York Consolidated Card Co. Poker / Gaming Set with Triton No. 42 & 1915 Panama Souvenir Playing Cards

Wonderful antique gaming/poker set housed in a black wooden fitted box with red and gold decorative detailing. The interior contains a large quantity of red and blue poker chips, two period playing-card decks, and a die.

Of particular interest is the New York Consolidated Card Co. paper sorter/quality-control notice still present inside the gaming box, marked “Sorted by No. 77” and advertising the company’s celebrated “Angel Back” playing cards.

Included:

• New York Consolidated Card Co. “Triton” No. 42 Extra playing cards — complete 52-card deck plus original illustrated Triton Joker. Includes the original No. 42 Extra box. Cards feature gold edges and an ornate classical pictorial back. The Ace of Spades is marked Triton No. 42 / Consolidated Card Company New York.

• U.S. Playing Card Co. Panama Souvenir Playing Cards — original box marked Copyright 1915, Cincinnati, Ohio. The cards feature photographic views and scenes relating to Panama and the Panama Canal. Includes 47 of the standard 52 playing cards, plus the illustrated Joker and Panama Canal map card. Five standard cards are missing.

• Large quantity of red and blue antique poker chips. Exact composition/material has not been determined, so they are being sold as material unknown rather than represented as Bakelite.

• Small die as shown.

• Original-style fitted black wooden gaming box with decorative red and gold painted detailing.

The box and contents show expected wear consistent with considerable age, including scratches, finish loss, edge wear, discoloration and other signs of use. Playing cards also show age/use. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition.
