Antique Sitzendorf Porcelain Cup & Saucer with Display Stand, Germany, c.1884–1902 Meissen Style
Beautiful late-19th-century Sitzendorf porcelain cup and matching saucer, dating to the Voigt Brothers period, approximately 1884–1902. The set also includes wooden display stand.
The cup and saucer feature delicate applied blue forget-me-not flowers and green leaves, hand-painted flowers and insects, gold trim, and an unusual six-footed design. The cup has a decorative branch-style handle.
Both porcelain pieces carry the blue crossed-line Sitzendorf mark associated with this period.
This style was produced in the Meissen tradition, and similar Meissen pieces are documented with applied forget-me-nots, painted insects and the same unusual six-footed form. This set is Sitzendorf, NOT
Meissen.
Condition: Very good antique condition for its age. The cup, saucer, handle and feet are intact with no observed cracks or major structural chips. There are some chips and losses to the extremely delicate applied flower petals and leaves, along with age-related wear to the gold decoration. Please review all photographs carefully for condition.
Included: Sitzendorf cup, matching saucer and the wooden display stand pictured.
A beautiful and unusual example of late-19th-century German Sitzendorf porcelain, made especially attractive as a display piece with the included stand.
