Beautiful antique La Belle China washstand/chamber set, attributed to Wheeling Pottery Co. of Wheeling, West Virginia, dating approximately to the 1890s–early 1900s.

This is a striking matching group featuring white semi-porcelain with elaborate raised and hand-decorated floral designs, black/brown accents, and extensive gold gilt detailing. The sculpted floral borders, ornate handles, scalloped edges, and gold decoration give the set a wonderful late-Victorian appearance.

Set includes:

* Large wash pitcher – approximately 12” tall x 10” wide from outer handle edge to spout. There is noticeable age-related discoloration/staining around the lower third of the body, as shown in the photos.

* Large wash basin/bowl – approximately 14 3/4” across x 4 3/4” deep.

* Small pitcher – approximately 7 3/4” tall x 7” wide from outer handle edge to spout.

* Covered chamber pot – approximately 10” across the main body, 12” including handle, and 8” tall to the top of the lid finial.

Pieces bear the La Belle China maker’s mark. La Belle China was an American semi-porcelain line associated with Wheeling Pottery in West Virginia and is documented from the late 19th/early 20th century.

Condition

Antique pre-owned condition with substantial age-related wear consistent with pieces approximately 120+ years old.

There is extensive glaze crazing, particularly visible on the undersides and interiors. Expect areas of discoloration/staining, surface wear, scratches, and wear/loss to the gold gilt decoration. The large pitcher has a particularly noticeable band of discoloration around its lower third.
