Antique Genesee Optical Co Box Rochester NY 1908 Washington 2c Postage Stamp For Sale

A spectacular piece of early 20th-century American postal and advertising history! This sale features an authentic antique wooden slide-top prescription lens mailing box from the Genesee Optical Co. of Rochester, N.Y. What makes this specific specimen an extraordinary collector's find is the original, authentic George Washington 2-Cent Red US Postage Stamp (Washington-Franklin Issue, circa 1908-1922) still physically affixed to the wooden side panel. The stamp bears an authentic vintage black ink cancellation smudge, proving this box traveled as a standalone package through the United States mail system over a century ago. The box currently houses a charming collection of antique cardstock schoolhouse word strips ("Daddy Long-legs", etc.).**Condition:**
Pre-owned antique condition. The wood box is structurally tight with box-jointed corners and a functional slide-groove lid. The black printed company typography is crisp and highly legible. The original paper 2-cent Washington stamp is remarkably well-preserved on the raw wood texture, displaying expected ambient fading, a clear postmark cancel line, and natural micro-chipping/peeling along the edges as pictured. A phenomenal display piece for postal historians, ephemera collectors, or antique enthusiasts.
