Antique French Hammered Copper Bucket Cauldron Snake Head Handle 19th C. Iron For Sale

Antique French hand-hammered copper and iron cauldron, featuring an iron snake head swing handle dating to 1800’s. It has a gorgeous patina that showcases its age. Additionally, it is lined with tin which is standard for this age of utility vessels to protect the contents.
It was likely used to scuttle logs and coal. Today, it can be used as a stand alone piece or for a variety of decorative means, including a cachepot, paper trash receptacle, kindling storage, etc.
It is substantial, weighing 5 lbs. 9 ounces and measuring 12” high to the rim, 18” high to the handle, and 10” across. It has a beautiful patina with one riveted seam on the side. These buckets are very durable and this one happens to be very beautiful as well.
