Product Description
A rare 19th-century French solid silver travel ciborium (ciboire des malades / ciboire de voyage), made in Dijon during the Restoration period, circa 1819–1838. It was designed for bringing Holy Communion and administering the Last Rites to the sick. The stem unscrews to reveal a small lower compartment used as a reserve for Holy Chrism (Saint Chrême).
The piece has a rounded foot and matching domed lid, both decorated with chased palm leaves. The lid is topped with a cross, while the cup retains its original gilt interior.
