Antique Early 1900s Maine Hand Sickles - Collection of 7 Rustic Wall Decor For Sale

Early 20th Century Maine Hand SicklesCollection of 7
These antique sickles have been partially restored to make them more pleasing to the eye. When we first acquired them, the blades were rusted, and the handles were dull and dirty. The blades were cleaned up and then treated with clearenamel to preserve them in the state they are now in. The wooden handles (save for the black one) were sandedsome to remove the debris and then stained. Although these are being listed as rustic decor, most all are in good, usable condition, and a couple had to be handled with gloves to avoid injury. As can be seen, the blades showvarying degrees of wear and deterioration. One was welded decades ago, and the rest are fine. The handles ofthe four larger ones are solid and sturdy, and the three smaller ones are less-so. One has been weakened byinsect damage and has a nail inserted by the blade. One has two brass nails and a screw, and the other isheavily worn with two nails driven in by the blade. There was a lack of identifying marks to identify themanufacturers. The only hints found were "No. 4" on one and "PAT 3,26,12" on another. To get an ideaof the sizes, the large bladed sickle at the top, left of the first picture measures 17" x 14", and the small, farthest right one is 15.25" x 4.5". The shafts of the center two measure 18".Please see the pictures for further details.
