A century-old Chinese dolldressed the way Chinese mothers dressed their own children - hat sewn with tinysilver deity plaques to guard against evil spirits, and an old brass cash coinon a red cord for luck. These protective ornaments were real folk practice,miniaturized: this doll carries the whole system.

Made c.1900-1930s with a moldedcomposition head with finely painted features, cloth body, and original silks:rose-pink jacket, sea-green trousers, and embroidered shoes. The cap carriesits full row of small white-metal deity plaques (photographed closely - seephotos) and the red-corded cash coin is still in the doll's hands. An old shopprice tag is still attached - it has clearly waited in a collection a very longtime.
