Antique Cathedral Pickle Bottle Aqua Glass Gothic Arched 11" Applied Lip 1860s For Sale

Beautiful Antique 11" Gothic Cathedral Pickle Bottle — Circa 1865-1875Up for sale is a spectacular, authentic 19th-century American "Gothic Cathedral" food preservation/pickle bottle. Standing an impressive 11 inches tall, this large-format jar is a classic piece of post-Civil War era utilitarian glass history. Key Features & Authentication Details:
* **Stunning Design:** Features deep, indented Gothic arched window panels on all four sides of the square body, capped with a heavy, stylized ring collar neck.
* **Period-Correct Applied Lip:** A beautifully primitive applied finish. The vertical mold seam lines stop cleanly on the neck right below the collar, showing where the craftsman manually tooled the mouth with a separate gather of molten glass. Faint horizontal tool marks are visible.
* **Indented Post-Bottom Base:** A clean, unembossed smooth base with a deep circular indentation. This design allowed the heavy bulk bottle to sit completely stable on merchant shelves.
* **Classic Aqua Glass:** Features a gorgeous, light aquamarine tint packed with charming manufacturing flaws, including internal "seed" air bubbles and subtle "orange-peel" texturing from the iron mold.### Condition Report:
Excellent antique condition. The glass is exceptionally clean with great clarity and no heavy "glass sickness" or cloudiness. The applied lip is completely intact with no chips, cracks, or flea bites. The base corners are strong and free of bruising. Minor, expected shelf-wear on the base consistent with a 150-year-old object. This is a premier example of early American glass that catches the light beautifully. Perfect for any bottle digger, historical glass collector, or primitive country decor enthusiast. *Item will be packed with professional care using heavy-duty bubble wrap and a surdy box to ensure safe transit.*Please view our store for more antique bottles, always thrilled to combine shippings!
