Description:
For your consideration is a stunning antique hand-carved wooden Corpus Christi (Body of Christ) sculpture, dating approximately from the 17th to the early 19th century. This piece showcases exceptional European or Spanish Colonial craftsmanship, featuring a beautifully expressive face, deeply detailed hair, and an emaciated anatomy characteristic of historical devotional art.
Key Details & Features:
• Length: Approximately 15 inches from head to toe (an ideal, highly collectible size for home display).
• Material: Hand-carved solid wood with traces of original polychrome (painted) finish.
• Style: Dramatic Baroque or Spanish Colonial Influence.
• Condition: Please review the photos carefully. As expected with devotional objects of this age, the sculpture features a rich, naturally aged patina with wear to the paint.
