Antique .900 Silver Blue Guilloche Enamel Pill Case Gilt Crest For Sale

Antique .900 Silver Blue Guilloche Enamel Cigarette Case Gilt Crest
A small hinged cigarette or card case in gilt .900 silver, with translucent blue guilloche enamel on both sides. The lid has a radiating sunburst ground, a gilt trophy-style crest in a scalloped cartouche, and a cream enamel border with gilt foliate corner mounts. The reverse is engine-turned in a continuous wave pattern under the same blue enamel, framed by a plain gilt rim.
The case is rectangular with rounded corners, a three-knuckle hinge, and a thumb catch on the side. The interior is plain and empty, with a gilt or silver-gilt finish, light scratches, and faint marks inside the lid that are not clearly readable. A stamp on the inner rim appears to read 900, the continental silver standard. No city or maker’s mark is clearly legible in the photos.
Condition is consistent with age and use. The enamel is largely intact on both faces, with fine surface scratches, a bright rub on the upper left of the lid, and wear and small losses to the gilt frame and corner ornaments. Edges show rubbing to the gilding. The hinge and catch are present. Please review all photos for exact wear.
Approximate pocket size; 3 inches. Originally made to hold pills or calling cards. Early 20th century continental work, in the guilloche enamel taste associated with Austrian, German, and other European silver of the period.
