​Up for sale is an original vintage 1930s die-cut heavy cardstock store display standee promoting the American cycling boom of the mid-to-late 1930s.

​This piece features fantastic pre-war Art Deco era graphics of a young couple riding balloon-tire cruiser bicycles side-by-side, complete with gothic flared fenders, whitewall tires, horn tank detailing on the step-through frame, skip-tooth sprockets, and classic 1930s active sportswear. Displays like this were produced for bicycle dealerships, hardware stores, and tire retailers to showcase the joy of balloon-tire cruiser cycling.

​Rarity: Large-format pre-war bicycle standees of this era are practically non-existent on the open market today; the vast majority were discarded after seasonal showroom promotions. To find an original survivor with this graphic appeal is a true rarity.

​Condition Details:

​The woman\'s raised left arm is missing from mid-sleeve upward (as clearly pictured). While unfortunate, the main body of the graphic, both bikes, and the characters\' smiling faces remain completely intact with bright, original litho color.

​Shows authentic display wear: horizontal factory/storage fold seam across the middle with associated paper flaking/creasing, vintage pin/tack holes from store hanging, edge rubs, and perimeter aging.

​Reverse retains remnants of original cardboard easel backing and historical paper tape reinforcements.

Because of the heavy cardstock construction, age, and 23\" x 28\" footprint, this display will be shipped completely flat. It will be sandwiched securely between thick sheets of rigid insulation foam board and heavy-duty corrugated cardboard boxing to prevent bending during transit. Shipping costs reflect the oversized dimensional package and heavy protective packaging required.
