Antique 1920s Bickmorine Bickmore Powder Veterinary Tin — Old Town, Maine New Old Stock
A wonderful piece of early 20th-century American veterinary and agricultural advertising history.
This is an original Bickmorine Bickmore Powder 8-ounce metal tin, manufactured by The Bickmore Company of Old Town, Maine, U.S.A.
The colorful yellow lithographed tin features the iconic Bickmore horse imagery and original printed advertising for Bickmorine Powder, described on the container as an astringent antiseptic for superficial wounds and sores on horses and cattle.
The reverse retains the original printed directions for use, making this especially interesting as a historical veterinary collectible.
The tin also retains the original 70-cent price, manufacturer information, and agency information printed on the original label.
Historical Dating
The Bickmore Company was already marketing Bickmorine internationally by 1920, and trademark records document Bickmorine in connection with The Bickmore Company with a February 1921 priority date. The distinctive tin design is consistent with the 1920s era.
