Lustrous, dark red crystals of andradite garnet to 1.0 cm cover the top of a chip of skarn matrix. There is some contacting present where the crystals bridged the pocket.

Tungsten ore was discovered in the Nightingale Mining District of Pershing County, Nevada in the late 1910's and early 1920's. The Alpine Mine was located in 1912, with a majority of production happening in between 1943-1946 when tungsten was needed during World War II. Scheelite is the main tungsten ore mineral in the skarn deposits of the district.
