African American Woman 1940s Portrait. Shreveport Louisiana Vintage For Sale

The image features a striking bust portrait of an African American woman gazing directly into the camera lens. She is wearing a dark under-cap or scarf beneath an expansive, halos-style straw sun hat.
The portrait is a wonderful example of mid-century localized photo manipulation. Because full-color film development was not yet universally affordable or widely accessible at local neighborhood studios during this era, photographers routinely used oil paints, watercolors, or specialized photo crayons to meticulously hand-tint details onto black-and-white silver gelatin prints. In this specific image, the artist added vibrant blue highlights to the woman\'s head covering and subtle pink tones to her cheeks and lips to bring depth and life to the composition.💰 Estimated Market ValueThe estimated market value for this complete, studio-stamped portrait ranges between $25 and $45 USD.Value Factors• Local Occupational/Studio Ephemera: Studio portraits stamped with clear, historical address details from Southern cities like Shreveport, Louisiana hold elevated value.
