Description Adderley England Porcelain Chelsea Pattern Stylized Blue Luster Grapes And Sprigs Antique 2 3/4\" Cup & Saucer Set 1912-1926
These are in Excellent Condition with No Chips No Cracks NOTE: there is fine natural crazing on the saucer. There is some staining on the cup and saucer. Very Nice Adderley England Cup & Saucer Set in the Chelsea pattern. These feature evenly spaced clusters of raised, stylized flowers and small grape clusters in a luster lavender/ blue color. These clusters are applied around the rim in eight placements, creating a simple yet elegant accent. It is white with a paneled rim with a beaded swag relief molded into body.
The cup measures 2 3/4\" High x 3 1/4\" Wide rim to rim and the saucer is 5 7/8\" Wide rim to rim. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Cup & Saucer Set.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Chelsea Grape pattern was originally made before 1840. A small bunch of grapes in a raised design, colored with purple or blue luster, is on the border of the white plate. Most of the older (1830s - 1860s) pieces are unmarked. Unmarked porcelain from this era is not uncommon, as many factories didn\'t consistently stamp their wares. The pattern is sometimes called Aynsley or Grandmother. Chelsea Sprig similar but has a sprig of flowers instead of the bunch of grapes. Chelsea Thistle has a raised thistle pattern. Chelsea grape-ware was never made by the Chelsea factory in England.
