34 Antique Little Leather Library Books Lot MARY PICKFORD HAND SIGNED Autograph For Sale

An exceptional collector-grade lot of 34 antique miniature books from the Little Leather Library Corporation, New York, circa 1920–1924. Green embossed covers in leather and leatherette bindings, approximately 3” x 4”. Interiors are clean, crisp and well-preserved for books over a century old. Pages show light age-appropriate toning, some books more than others. Covers and spines show typical edge wear and minor corner rubbing consistent with age. From the estate of Gilbertine “Gibby” Moore (1914–2008) of Franklin, Kentucky. Several volumes have Moore family names written inside.This lot has two extraordinary highlights:
1. Authentic Mary Pickford Signature — VerifiedFriendship and Other Essays by Henry David Thoreau bears a pencil ownership signature “Mary Pickford” on the title page. The signature was reviewed and confirmed authentic by Elaina Friedrichsen, Director of Archive & Legacy at the Mary Pickford Foundation: “Based on what I have seen, and the materials we have housed in our archive, I would say with most certainly that indeed appears to be Mary’s signature.” A photo of the verification email is included in the listing images. The Little Leather Library series was sold at Woolworth’s during precisely the years when Pickford was at the absolute height of her fame — a perfect pairing of era and artifact.
2. Rare Publisher’s Binding ErrorTwo volumes share identical covers stamped “Poems · Robert Browning.” One correctly contains Browning’s work; the other contains the complete text of The Poems and Songs of Robert Burns — a publisher’s assembly error from the original print run. Both books are fully intact and original to the period.
