Bobby Richardson the all time great 2nd baseman from the NY Yankees ran in 1976 as a Republican in is home state of South Carolina. He was at the time the baseball coach for the University of South Carolina. Gerald Ford was the president at the time, and convinced Richardson to resign from the position as coach, and run for the seat in the US House of Representatives South Carolina\'s 5th Congressional District. Richardson narrowly lost to incumbent Democrat Kenneth Holland. This pinback is in excellent condition and measures 1-1/4\" across. .
