About the Machine

The 1972 Rupp Scrambler was one of the final minibike models offered by Rupp Industries of Mansfield, Ohio, a company widely regarded as one of the premier American minibike manufacturers of the 1960s and early 1970s. As the minibike boom began to fade, Rupp streamlined its lineup, leaving the Scrambler as an affordable and durable trail machine.

Powered by a Tecumseh H35 four-stroke engine producing approximately 3.5 horsepower, the Scrambler used a centrifugal clutch and chain drive for simple, reliable operation. Its lightweight frame, telescopic front forks, rear suspension, and wide off-road tires gave riders a capable machine for trails, fields, and backyard adventures.

The 1972 model featured a black-painted frame, forks, and swingarm paired with a red fuel tank and matching rear fender. While simpler than Rupp\'s more expensive Roadster models, the Scrambler retained the quality construction and distinctive styling that made Rupp minibikes famous. Today, surviving examples are highly sought after by collectors and vintage minibike enthusiasts, representing the final years of America\'s golden age of minibiking.
