1950's PELIKAN 140 Full BLACK Torpedo Serviced Fountain Pen-Flexy F Nib- 400 For Sale

FULL BLACK Pelikan 140 fountain pen.

The nib is crafted from 14k 585 gold and is a KF- Kugel Fine. The nib has a decent amount of flex and line variation. Kugel nibs were meant to mimic how a ballpoint pen write. They are usually very smooth, smoother than non kugel nibs due to the ball shaped nib tipping.

The pen is in mint condition, as you can see on the pictures. There are no cracks anywhere on the pen and the nib collar also isn't cracked.

This is the first version of the 140, with the nib size stamped on both the piston knob and nib. Also, it had a different piston gasket and barrel end engraved, while the cap ring was engraved. Also, the nib is the older type, without the chick logo and the cap top is blank, also without the chick logo. This came in the later models.

The nib writes well and the pen has received a full service, which included full disassembly, thorough cleaning and lubrication of moving parts with silicone.

I have provided a writing sample using Pelikan 4001 blue tint, in order to further describe the writing characteristics of the nib. Please keep in mind that I am a left handed writer.
