Vintage 1949 Slaymaker Heavy-Duty Padlock with Attached Chain

Marked “SLAYMAKER,” “1949” and “HS.” Slaymaker was a noted manufacturer of railroad and industrial locking hardware. The meaning of the HS marking has not been conclusively identified; no specific railroad attribution is being made.

Substantial vintage industrial padlock manufactured by Slaymaker, a historic American lock manufacturer known for producing heavy-duty, railroad, government and industrial locking hardware.

The exposed shackle is clearly stamped “SLAYMAKER,” “1949,” and “HS.” Features a large riveted metal body, sliding keyhole/dust cover, heavy attached chain and substantial rotating shackle.

The lock displays an excellent naturally aged industrial patina with oxidation, surface wear, scratches and discoloration consistent with age and use.

No key is included and functionality has not been tested. Sold as found.

A particularly interesting example for collectors due to its clearly dated 1949 Slaymaker marking, large size, attached chain and heavy industrial construction.
