Written in the immediate aftermath of World War II, How to Be a Civilian was aimed at returning servicemen adjusting from military service back to civilian life. Morton Thompson combines humor with observations and advice about returning home, employment, family, friends, and everyday civilian life.
The copyright page clearly states “FIRST EDITION.”
Hardcover retains its original illustrated dust jacket featuring the blue, gray, black, and white How to Be a Civilian design.
CONDITION:
Vintage pre-owned condition with significant age-related wear.
Original dust jacket is present but shows noticeable edge wear, chips, tears, creasing, rubbing, and losses, particularly around the upper and lower edges/spine area. Please examine all jacket photos closely.
Hardcover boards show age and handling wear.
Pages have considerable age toning/yellowing and page edges show discoloration consistent with an approximately 80-year-old book.
Binding remains intact. Some age-related separation or looseness may be present in areas, so please review the binding photos carefully.
Previous owner\'s handwritten inscription on the front endpaper reads:
“Ann Hughes
March, 1946”
No other writing or highlighting has been noticed during inspection, but the book has not been examined 1946 by Morton Thompson.
