This is a very rare Polish Refugee Identity Card, issued in Tel Aviv by the Polish Refugees’ Committee in 1943.Issued to Henryka Wolfstein, née Wilner, born in Warsaw in 1903. Henryka and her daughter Anna are documented in a wartime list of Polish refugees who had reached Tehran after evacuation from the Soviet Union during the period of the Anders evacuation.Her name appears in the Polish wartime newspaper “Polska Walcząca – Żołnierz Polski na Obczyźnie” (Fighting Poland – Weekly for the Polish Forces), in a published list of Poles staying in Tehran.A scarce and historically important WW2 refugee document connecting Warsaw, the Soviet Union, the Anders evacuation route, Tel Aviv and Mandatory Palestine.
