This is a rare antique Japanese telephone manufactured by OKI Electric Co., Ltd. in 1925 (Taisho 14).

It is a No. 2 Common Battery Desk Telephone, a type used in Japan during the early 20th century before rotary dial telephones became widespread.

This type of telephone was designed to connect to a telephone exchange. When the receiver was lifted, a signal would alert the telephone operator.

This set includes both the telephone unit and the separate bell box.

The bell box has some dirt inside and some whitish rubbing / polishing marks around the corners.

The receiver has very fine age-related cracks in the resin material.
