Location: The Chittenden Hotel, Columbus, Ohio
About the Author:

About the Item:
This is an incredible, historically significant 1-page typed letter addressed to his wife, Lina Elise "Dolly" Roth. Signed intimately with his birth name, "Pearl", the letter details the immediate aftermath of the devastating Great Flood of March/April 1913.
Grey vividly describes the disaster, noting that the river "crested it's banks by 40 ft," that "homes were uplifted from their foundations," and that the National Guard was brought in to keep order. He mentions writing the letter by candlelight because the hotel's electricity was out.
