OFFERED HERE IS A FANTASTIC, 1913 MENDEL BEILIS ACQUITTAL COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL! ORIGINAL EXTRA FINE. THE SMALL HANGING LOOP AT THE VERY TOP IS INTACT BUT DAMAGED. COMPOSITION IS SOLID BRASS, 2.9 grams, 22.5 mm. AI OVERVIEW:This exceptionally rare 1913 Mendel Beilis acquittal commemorative pendant medal weighs 2.9 grams, measures 22.5 mm in diameter, and is struck in solid brass. Commissioned by Eastern European Jewish communities immediately following his landmark acquittal on October 28, 1913, these tokens were produced as grassroots symbols of victory against the Tsarist regime's state-sponsored blood libel trial. The piece is incredibly scarce due to its ephemeral nature; it was originally distributed to be worn on ribbons or carried daily as personal pocket tokens, meaning the vast majority were lost, melted down, or heavily worn over the last century. Finding an example that retains its original, fragile suspension loop along with such crisp, unrubbed high-relief details-rendered across its compact 22.5 mm frame-makes it a highly sought-after investment piece for institutions and elite Judaica collectors.Mendel Beilis was a Ukrainian Jew falsely accused of ritual murder in Kiev during a notorious 1913 blood-libel trial. Backed by the Tsarist regime, the prosecution sparked international outrage. His subsequent acquittal on October 28, 1913 (the 10th of Marcheshvan 5674) prompted communities across Eastern Europe and worldwide to strike tokens and medals like this one to mark the triumph of truth.Historical sale records from specialized Judaica and numismatic venues show that the 1913 Mendel Beilis acquittal medal commands significant interest from collectors, generally selling in the $200 to $700 range depending heavily on condition and platform.Kedem sale House: An identical brass specimen of this exact 22 mm medal was listed with an opening offer of $200 and ultimately sold for $688 (including buyer's premium).Public Marketplaces (e.g., ): In the wider collectors' market, listings for this medal routinely surface from estate collections or specialized antique dealers, typically priced at a fixed buy-it-now rate of $200 to upwards of $950 for exceptional premium variations with gold accents or pristine provenance.Response received from AI after submitting pictures:
Your medal is in excellent, collectable condition. The fact that it strictly measures 22.5 mm and weighs 2.9 g perfectly aligns with authenticated institutional pieces. More importantly, the suspension loop is unbroken, and the text on the reverse remains incredibly sharp against the natural dark brass patina-factors that drive offerding toward the higher end of the historic sale spectrum.MAKE THIS SUPERB, HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE MEDAL YOURS!
