1912 Missouri Mines Football Player Letter 13-0 Loss to St Louis Billikens GameVery unique collectible, original 1912 handwritten letter on The American Hotel (St. Louis) letterhead with matching envelope. Written by a Missouri Mines (now Missouri S&T) football player, possibly by the name of C. H. O'Neill to a lady friend Hope Nesbitt of Webb City Missouri. In the letter the player discusses the game they just played against St. Louis Billikens and lost 13-0 and is frustrated over the loss as he feels they should have won 7-6. It goes on to discuss a player who was injured and then some other info about what he did in the city that night. This is an outstanding firsthand piece of early college football history. The game he talks about was played on October 19, 1912 and this letter is dated & postmarked October 20, 1912. The envelope has some heavy wear and damage along all the edges with tears, the letter has a small tear on the 3rd page. See all photos.
