Measures approximately 6 x 9 inches and contains 72 numbered pages.
This is a particularly content-rich pre-Civil War reform publication documenting the seventh Pennsylvania Yearly Meeting of Progressive Friends. The meeting brought together reform-minded Friends and other progressive religious figures and addressed major social, religious, political, and humanitarian questions of the period.

The Slavery testimony is especially notable. It condemns slavery, discusses the status of free Black Americans, calls for Pennsylvania legislation against kidnapping free people into slavery, and criticizes the pro-slavery character of the U.S. Constitution as then interpreted.
The Caste section discusses racial discrimination and the treatment and education of Black children.
The Marriage testimony specifically addresses the position of women, declaring the equality of the sexes and a woman\'s right to control her own person.
The volume also contains correspondence or material associated with numerous prominent 19th-century reform figures, including Thomas Wentworth Higginson, Oliver Johnson, Joseph A. Dugdale, Angelina Weld, Samuel Johnson, James Freeman Clarke, A. D. Mayo, Daniel Ricketson, and others.
One especially interesting portion is the printed communication from Angelina Weld, dated Eagleswood, New Jersey, April 26, 1857, followed by her essay “The Fall of Man.”
The proceedings also include a memorial addressed to President James Buchanan concerning the treatment of Native Americans.
The front cover bears an old handwritten ownership inscription that appears to read “J. Lundy, Bordentown” or similar; please examine the photograph and make your own determination.
