14 Ounces of Orbicular Leopard Skin Jasper Rough Bulk Lot For Tumbling Lapidary For Sale

Orbicular Leopard Skin Jasper Rough (frequently classified geologically as a variety of orbicular rhyolite) is a highly popular, colorful lapidary material primarily sourced from Mexico. It is widely used for bulk rock tumbling, cabochon cutting, and specialized lapidary work due to its striking, multi-colored ringed patterns (\"orbicules\") that mimic the spots of a leopard or jaguar.Key Lapidary Attributes

• Material Hardness: It features a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7, making it tough, scratch-resistant, and structural enough to hold an exceptional, glassy shine without bruising easily in a tumbler barrel.
• Color Profile: The raw material showcases a dynamic matrix of tan, cream, brown, pink, olive green, and sometimes deep reds or oranges. When dry, the rock often looks chalky or muted, but wetting or polishing completely brings out the vibrant color depth.
• Typical Tumbling Size: Bulk lots generally offer hand-selected chunks ranging between 1 to 2.5 inches, an ideal size for standard rotary or vibratory tumblers and trim saws.

Rock Tumbling RecommendationBecause Leopard Skin Jasper is hard and compact, tumbling it requires patience. It is highly recommended to fill your barrel 2/3 full using a mix of roughly 90% jasper rough and 10% ceramic media. The ceramic media serves as a structural cushion to prevent the stones from chipping each other\'s edges as the orbicular shapes round out over sequential grit cycles
