This jade head is the largest carved jade object yet discovered in the Maya region, more specifically in the 'Temple of Masonry Altars' (Structure B4) at the Altun Ha site in Belize. Discovered in 1968 in a 6th-century tomb, it represents the Maya sun god, Kinich Ahau. It is a masterpiece of Mesoamerican art, featuring the deity with crossed eyes, fangs, and the "ahau" glyph.
