This is an etching by Edwin Forbes 1839-1895 titled “The Pontoon Bridge” plate signed and issued in 1876. Forbeswas an American landscape painter and etcher who gained notoriety during the Civil War, for his detailed scenes ofbattles and everyday life. The etching measures 15 3/4”x by 10 3/4”, behind a new double mat in the original 22 1/2”x 17 1/2” oak frame. I will be listing a few more of his etchings, identically framed.
