1962 Topps Uncut Sample Sheet Baseball Cards Sandy Koufax Roger Maris

Posted on July 13th, 2011 by admin | Posted in Baseball Cards, Featured

Here is an awesome uncut Sample Sheet Baseball Cards obtained from the collection of a former Topps Executive that just closed on eBay for $10,000.00. This incredible eight-card blank-backed sample sheet features the 1962 Topps baseball cards of Eddie Mathews, Sandy Koufax, Roger Maris, Frank Thomas, Bill White, Nellie Fox, and Tony Taylor along with a 1st Series Checklist.

The condition appears to be excellent as seller states there is only minor wear on the four corners as well as a slight touch of wear on the top border of Maris and the checklist. The rest of the interior cards including Sandy Koufax are in perfect condition and would grade Mint or Gem Mint if professionally cut from the sheet.

Considering the premium placed on Sandy Koufax as well that of blank backed cards, the corresponding value of this item makes it one of the premier collectibles for this legendary Hall of Fame southpaw. Total size of this uncut sheet of sample baseball cards is 7 inches by 10 1/2 inches.

Vintage uncut baseball cards sheets are going up in value as they become harder to find, take a look at some more uncut baseball cards sheets available on eBay.

Babe Ruth Autographed Baseball for Sale

Posted on June 15th, 2011 by admin | Posted in Autographed Baseballs, Baseballs, Featured

Take a look at this great deal on a baseball autographed by Babe Ruth along with 6 other White Sox hall of famers.

This Official American Association ball has the autographs of 6 fellow Hall of Famers all Chicago White Sox and was likely signed in 1947. Ruth’s resplendent blue-ink signature (“5-6”) beams—like only his scripting could—on a ball that reveals evidence of light use. When it comes to the term presents as single signed it is used and most would feel overused. This ball meets and is likely the definition of the term. While with technology lighting JSA is able to identify 14 total autographs including fellow Hall of Famers : Appling, Faber, Lyons, Schalk, Boudeau and Red Ruffing, they have long faded away and left only Ruth on the Sweet Spot as the ball appears (presents as single signed). This Babe Ruth signed baseball is accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication and has no removals, trace overs or clubhouse signatures.

This outstanding piece of baseball history is priced at $5699 on eBay or best offer and is one of the best we’ve seen in this price range.

1931 Babe Ruth Type 1 First Generation Wire Photo

Posted on June 7th, 2011 by admin | Posted in Featured, Photos, Player Photos

Take a look at this outstanding 1931 first generation wire photograph of Babe Ruth. This photo shows Babe Ruth being carried off the field with an injury during the opening game of the 1931 season against the Boston Red Sox. The wire service is NEA Service, Inc. New York and the photograph is dated May 2, 1931.

The back of the photo says the following: “CARRING THE INJURED BABE FROM THE FIELD an injury to the left leg of Babe Ruth, reported a torn ligament, marred the official opening of the American League season in Boston, Mass. A series of mishaps, climaxed by his collapse in the sixth inning as he was chasing a two base hit from the bat of Oliver, Boston Red Sox outfielder, put the Yankee Slugger out of the game, and into the hospital. Despite the loss of the Bam, who may be out for a week or two, the Yanks won from the Sox. This picture telephotoed from Boston, shows the Babe being carried into the dressing room.

This wire photo is offered by SportscardsNart on eBay with a buy it now price of $4,995.

Vintage Yankee Stadium Seats for Sale

Posted on June 5th, 2011 by admin | Posted in Featured, Misc Vintage Baseball

Take a look at these seats that were removed and sold by United Housewrecking in the 1970’s during the renovation of Yankee Stadium. Although they didn’t include any certification the seller left them unpainted so you can see the layers of paint used by the Yankees throughout the years.

They are in the same condition as they were the last time a fan sat in them. The seats have brackets so they sit as if in the Stadium. Don’t get these mixed up with the newer seats being sold as “Old Yankee Stadium Seats”. I’m sure people sat in these seats to watch Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, and Joe Dimaggio. It’s also possible they watched Lou Gehrig and maybe even Babe Ruth. Of course they were there for people like Ted Williams and Willie Mays (World Series) too.

They are available on eBay with a starting bid of just $1,490.
