This is an Edwin Forbes etching titled “The Advance of the Cavalry & Skirmish Line” dated 1876. Forbes wasan American landscape painter and etcher who gained notoriety during the Civil War, for his detailed scenesof battle and everyday life. The plate marks measure 15 7/8”x 10 7/8”, behind a new double mat, in theoriginal oak frame, that measures 22 1/2”x 17 1/2”. Both etching and frame are in very good condition. Iwill be listing more of his works, identically framed.
