This listing is for Weekly Shonen Jump 1991 No. 21-22. This is probably the most iconic Dragon Ball cover from the original series in Weekly Shonen Jump and includes Chapter 323 of Dragon Ball manga (with the classic battle between Goku and Frieza). This pre-dated both the tankobon and the anime.
This book has been authenticated by Beckett as the original from 1991, not the reprint that you often see for sale.
It was graded 5.5 ("Fine-") by Beckett with "Off-White / White Pages". Beckett then sealed the book in a hard plastic case.

About Japanese MangaJapanese manga (especially Shonen Jump) contains a number of extremely important 1st appearances. However, since these magazines are fairly bulky and very few people perceived them to be a collectible, the vast majority were discarded and the small number that remain tend to be in pretty bad condition. Reprints exist for a few of the keys (like 1st One Piece and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) but are easily identified by differences in the back cover. Fakes are fairly rare, with the exception of 4 books: Shonen Jump 1984 No. 51 (1st Dragon Ball); Shonen Jump 1999 No. 43 (1st Naruto); Shonen Jump 1998 No. 14 (1st Hunter X Hunter); and Shonen Jump 1997 No. 34 (1st One Piece). These fakes are fairly easy to identify if you've been collecting manga for a while, but if not, you need to be careful about buying these books from a reputable source unless they have been authenticated/graded.
