WWII Paratrooper French Orphan Christmas Santa Cherbourg France Photo:
$99.00

A wonderful set of nine original 8\" x 10\" photos of WWII French orphans at a Christmas party in Cherbourg, France, dated 1953 and 1954. The parties were hosted by the 82nd Airborne Division and a colonel in that unit has captioned most of the photos on the back in ink. The photos are touching - and so are the captions. The colonel (who led men parachuting behind enemy lines in WWII and won the silver star) refers to having mist in his eyes and a lump in his throat from the orphan\'s singing. Another caption explains that every year the 82nd raised money for the gifts by saleing off cakes made by the army wives.Overall Very Good condition as shown. The backs are toned from age and they all have a slight curl, but otherwise nothing really to note. The photos are detailed and clear.
A superb set of post-WWII photos that will make a superb addition to any collection. I ship every day the post office is open with your items safely packed for protection. I always combine shipping. Please see my store for more museum quality artifacts of history.
