Offered together are three original World War II-era issues of The Ace-Pursuiter, the wartime newspaper published for personnel at Paine Field in Everett, Washington.

These surviving publications provide a firsthand look at daily life on an American Army air field during World War II. Rather than reporting only national headlines, the issues document the people, activities, military administration, recreation, entertainment, war-bond efforts, awards, sports and everyday culture of Paine Field during 1943-1944.

Historical context: Paine Field was operated by the U.S. Army during World War II and supported Army Air Forces activity in the Pacific Northwest. Contemporary historical sources use The Ace-Pursuiter as an original documentary source for wartime life and personnel at the field.Issues IncludedNovember 13, 1943 — Vol. 3, No. 45

Base newspapers such as The Ace-Pursuiter were produced for the military community itself and preserve details that are often absent from conventional histories: individual servicemen and women, promotions, awards, local entertainment, sports, jokes, civilian workers, war-bond campaigns and the routines of life at a wartime air installation.

Paine Field had been acquired for Army use before America's entry into World War II and became an important military aviation installation in the Pacific Northwest. These three issues preserve that history in the words and photographs circulated to personnel who were actually stationed there.

The issues are being sold together as a three-piece documentary group rather than separated so that their Paine Field provenance and 1943-1944 chronological context remain intact.

Condition

Original wartime paper items now more than 80 years old. Condition varies between the three issues.

Expect age-related toning/yellowing, foxing or spotting, folds and creases, edge and corner wear, small tears, wrinkling and general handling/storage wear. The November 13, 1943 issue shows heavier overall discoloration and folding than the later issues.

The publications remain readable and retain strong period photographs, mastheads and printed wartime content. No attempt has been made to flatten, restore or aggressively clean the fragile paper.

Please review all listing photographs carefully for the most complete representation of condition and contents.
