WWI US Army Soldier Portrait By Davies Uniform Collar Disks 1917-1919 Antique Description
Original World War I-era U.S. Army soldier portrait photograph, dating approximately 1917–1919, presented in its original folding photographic presentation folder.
The unidentified young man is shown wearing a U.S. Army enlisted service uniform characteristic of the World War I period. Particularly interesting are the round metal collar disks visible on his high standing collar. One appears to be the standard “U.S.” collar disk, while the other would have represented his branch or organizational affiliation. The detail in the photograph is not quite sufficient to identify the second disk with certainty, so no specific regiment or unit is attributed.
No obvious rank insignia is visible in the portrait. The round collar disks are consistent with those worn by enlisted U.S. Army personnel, rather than commissioned officers, during the WWI period.
The portrait has excellent facial and uniform detail, including the collar insignia, buttons, shoulder strap and breast pocket. There is also a faint photographer/studio impression near the lower right of the photograph which appears to say \"Davies, Portland ORG\".
The photograph is mounted inside an attractive gray folding presentation folder with embossed decorative borders and corner designs.

A compelling original WWI-era military portrait with excellent uniform and insignia detail—an appealing piece for collectors of World War I photographs, U.S. Army memorabilia, Doughboy, military uniforms, collar insignia and antique photography.
Condition
Condition is antique/vintage with significant wear to the original folder, particularly along the edges, corners and folds, including fraying, losses, splitting and deterioration. The mounted photograph itself remains quite attractive with scattered small surface marks and age-related wear. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are an important part of the condition description.
