Original British Army 15th (The King's) Hussars cap badge from the King's Crown / pre-1922 period.
The distinctive regimental design features a lion above the Royal Crown, surrounded by the Garter bearing:
HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE
Below is the Roman numeral XV for the 15th Regiment and the regimental motto:
MEREBIMUR
"We Shall Be Worthy."
The National Army Museum documents this same badge design as an other-ranks cap badge of the 15th (The King's) Hussars circa 1900, and also records the regiment's cap badge during the 1914-1918 period.
The 15th King's Hussars served on the Western Front throughout the First World War. In 1922 the regiment amalgamated with the 19th Royal Hussars to form the 15th/19th The King's Royal Hussars.
Both rear attachment lugs remain present.
A desirable original British cavalry insignia from one of the historic Hussar regiments.
