WW2 Photo Gunter Field AL. Pilot Training Plane Snapshot Vultee BT-13 Valiant

Up for sale is an authentic, original World War 2 era black-and-white photographic snapshot measuring 4.5" x 3.25". This size indicates a period contact print made directly from 116 or 616 roll film, heavily favored by servicemen carrying personal pocket or box cameras during the war. The photograph depicts an airfield scene from Gunter Field in Montgomery, Alabama. During WW2, Gunter served as an expansive USAAF Basic Flying School. Given the specific station and era, the aircraft captured in this image is a Vultee BT-13 / BT-15 Valiant (the primary basic trainer used on-site through mid-1944). The reverse side includes period handwritten cursive ink detailing the location: "Gunter Field, Montgomery, Ala." This is a fantastic piece of aviation and military home-front history, perfect for collectors of WW2 memorabilia, Army Air Forces history, or Alabama local interest. Below the front window of the plane there is a small stenciled name GUNTER along with a large number 316 on the rearfuselage; If an aircraft featuresjust a standalone three-digit number like "316"painted in large font on the rear fuselage—without any accompanying squadron letters—itindicates a USAAF Training Aircraft.

• Front: Clear vintage contrast and details typical of WW2 amateur contact prints. (Please see photos for a complete look at the image quality).
• Back: Features authentic handwritten identification in cursive fountain ink. There is significant black paper and period album residue along the edges The paper remains structurally sound.

• Ships securely in a clear rigid protective sleeve.
