Vintage USS Nautilus SSN-571 Submarine US Navy Commemorative Plate Hand Painted For Sale

This vintage plate commemorates the opening of the US Navy USS Nautilus museum in Connecticut. The Nautilus was the first operational nuclear submarine. The plate was hand-painted by Elizabeth Parsons. Elizabeth was the wife of Vincent Parsons, who served on the submarine during the early years.

The plate measures about 10 inches wide.

There are some imperfections in the gold border, as shown. The paint is very fragile and should be treated gently.
