Up for sale is a fantastic, authentic piece of vintage automobilia/petroliana. This square, backlit Raybestos garage clock features the classic red script and bold yellow face. It makes an excellent addition to any man cave, garage, or vintage sign collection.
Circa 1960s – 1970s
Measures approximately 17" X 14"
The Clock Face & Lens: The internal molded yellow plastic face is in excellent structural shape with NO cracks or heat fractures—which is rare for these vintage shop signs! The clear outer protective lens does show typical cosmetic wear from a garage environment, including surface scratches and rub marks. (Please review photos closely to see surface wear).
The Movement: The clock mechanics have been previously converted/upgraded to a modern, quiet quartz mechanism. It runs independently on a single AA battery box located on the back casing.
The Lighting: The internal backlight runs on standard high-voltage AC power. It has an attached power cord that plugs into a standard wall outlet to illuminate the sign. Note: I believe the original light-bulb is bad. It shows black marks on the glass ends. I did order one but it will be several weeks before it arrives. Basically what happens the light will not come on until you turn the bulb left or right to create a spark connection. then the bulb will stay on for ever. But as soon as you unplug the clock and plug back in the bulb wont light up. You need to turn the bulb again then the bulb lights up. The end connections are nice and clean on the baluster, But the bulb filament is old. Besides that nice sign.
Overall: Selling completely As-Is as a functional, battery-operated clock with a plug-in light.
