Vintage Porcelain Beer Stein Ludwig \"Mad King\" Bavaria,Germany Cir. 1960-1980 For Sale

For your consideration is this cool lidded porcelain beer stein commemorating King Ludwig II of Bavaria (Knig von Bayern).

History & Age The Subject: The portrait shows Ludwig II, who ruled Bavaria from 1864 until his death in 1886. He is famously known as the \"Mad King\" or \"Fairytale King\" for building magnificent castles like Neuschwanstein. The Inscription: The text under the portrait reads \"Ludwig II. Knig von Bayern\" along with his birth and death dates: \"25. August 1845 13. Juni 1886\". The Age: While the dates honor his life in the 19th century, this specific stein is a vintage reproduction. The smooth white glaze, transfer-printed image style, and flat-top pewter lid point to production in West Germany, likely between the 1960s and 1980s. Major manufacturers like Gerz or Rastal frequently produced commemorative series like this for the tourist and collector markets. Produced during the German reunification period.
