Estimated Origin:Japan (Unmarked bases with green felt pads)

Up for sale is a charming pair of vintage, mid-century modernist religious choir figurines featuring a singing monk (friar) and a nun. Both figurines are dynamically posed holding open red hymnal songbooks with their mouths open in song. They feature beautifully stylized, anthropomorphic facial features typical of 1950s-1960s holiday and novelty pottery imports. The bottoms are hollow, slip-cast ceramic and feature protective green felt padding applied to the bases to prevent scratching furniture. No original maker\'s stickers or underglaze stamps are visible due to the felt placement, assuming it’s under the felt.Condition Notes (Please Read Before PURCHASE)
