History:
The iconic Marx 999 was produced from the early 1940s through the 1960s as Marx's affordable O gauge entry-level engine. Made in the U.S.A. This is the plastic boiler / metal motor version with original number boards reading "999" on nose and cab sides.
Condition:
Fair to Good vintage player-grade condition. See all photos - they are part of the description.
• Locomotive: Original black paint with play wear, scuffs, light dust/dirt in crevices. MARX TOYS stamp on motor housing. Side rods, handrails, bell intact. Bottom shows complete motor, gears, and copper pickup. Motor spins by hand. UNTESTED - no track or transformer to test. Sold as non-working/for restoration.
• NYC Tender: "NEW YORK CENTRAL" lettering readable, some paint wear on top coal hump. Metal trucks with surface rust. Couplers present but bent - see photos.
• PRR Gondola 347000: "PENNSYLVANIA 347 000" and PRR keystone logo present. Black tin litho with white lettering. Some bending to body side, couplers bent. Trucks roll.
All couplers will need straightened. No breaks or missing major parts noted.
