Vintage heavy-duty wooden drill bit index/storage holder acquired directly from a machinist shop along with other machine-shop tooling.
This appears to be a shop-made machinist drill index, constructed from thick laminated plywood and designed to organize a large assortment of drill bits. The face has individually marked positions, including letter drill sizes A through T, along with corresponding size/decimal markings. Additional drill storage holes are located around the perimeter on the opposite side.
The holder measures approximately 10” in diameter and 2” thick and has a large center hole, possibly originally used for mounting or handling the index.
This is an unusual piece of vintage machinist tooling with great shop character. It could be put back into service for drill storage or would make an excellent addition to a vintage machine shop/tool collection.
Condition: Used vintage condition with scratches, staining, discoloration, writing/markings and general wear consistent with years of machine-shop use. No drill bits are included. Please review all photos closely, as they are part of the description.
Provenance: Acquired from a machinist shop.
