Vintage Italian Florentine Gold Leaf Wood Cherub Box Handmade Florence Italy For Sale

Vintage Florentine decorative box, handmade in Florence, Italy, and dating to approximately the early-to-mid 1990s. Originally purchased from Neiman Marcus.
Constructed of real wood and embellished with genuine gold leaf, the hinged rectangular box features an ornate gilt Florentine border surrounding a colorful classical scene of two cherubs or putti among clouds, flowers and laurel wreaths. One cherub rests beside an artist\'s palette decorated with a heart and arrow motif.
The underside retains its original labels reading “REAL WOOD – HAND MADE IN FLORENCE – ITALY” and “GOLD LEAF,” providing particularly nice documentation of its Italian origin and materials.
The unfinished wood interior has a warm golden-brown tone and retains its original hinged construction.
Measures approximately 6.25\" long x 4.25\" wide x 1.875\" high.
This is a genuine vintage decorative piece and shows considerable age-related wear to the exterior finish, including rubbing, scratches, gilt loss and other surface wear, most noticeably around the sides, edges and underside. The wear lends the box an authentically aged appearance but should be carefully reviewed in the photographs.
A lovely decorative accent for a vanity, dresser, desk or collection of Italian Florentine objects.
From a smoke-free and pet-free home.
