Vintage Hand Engraved Brass Tankards Beer Mugs x2 Indian Floral Chased Decor

Description:

Two vintage brass tankards, hand-engraved with dense chased decoration in the Indian export style.

The two designs are different, which makes a nice contrast on display. One has flowing leaf and floral scrolls all round, and the other has pointed-oval and diamond panels filled with stylised leaf sprays. Both have the same engraved border bands on a finely hatched background, a flared stepped base, and a cast brass strap handle soldered to the body. The engraving was cut by hand, so the depth and spacing of the lines vary in a way machine-stamped pieces don't.

They'd suit a bar, shelf or study, or work as pen and brush holders or small planters with a liner.

Sold for decorative use only, not for food or drink.
