Vintage Desert Center California Covered Wagon Real Photo Postcard
Here is a fantastic real photo postcard titled Wanderers of the Wastelands captured near Desert Center, California. It features an old timer who looks like he has not seen the inside of a building in decades just casually driving a covered wagon pulled by a pair of exhausted looking mules. This is not some Hollywood movie set piece. This is just a guy trying to survive the harsh California desert sun long before modern comforts were a thought in anyone\'s head. Please note that the RaofferMonkeys text you see floating across the image is strictly a digital watermark to protect the scan online and is not actually printed on the physical postcard itself.
This piece is completely unposted and features a clean back with a DOPS stamp box, which tells us it was manufactured sometime between 1925 and 1942. You will notice some standard minor edge wear, slightly soft corners, and a tiny blemish on the back left side. Honestly it is in spectacular shape for a piece of paper that could have easily been blowing around the Mojave for the last ninety years. Be sure to examine all the provided photos closely to verify the exact condition for yourself before purchasing.
As an authentic vintage piece, this item may show typical signs of age, which can include minor edge wear, soft or bumped corners, slight yellowing, and light surface blemishes. Please carefully examine all provided high-resolution photos for the most accurate and definitive representation of the item\'s condition prior to purchasing. Trivia Corner
Desert Center was founded in 1921 by a guy named Stephen Ragsdale who set up a simple auto repair stand and a gas pump in the absolute middle of nowhere. It became a crucial literal oasis for travelers trying to cross the brutal Colorado Desert stretch of what would eventually become Interstate 10. The town was so remote that Ragsdale had to haul his own water in for years just to keep people and their overheating cars alive.
