Company History & Context

City Ready Mix Co., Inc. was a staple of the local building and industrial trades in Burke County, North Carolina, operating out of its main plant location on Box 505 in Valdese. Managed for more than 30 years by Carl Brinkley alongside his wife Mildred, the company supplied essential ready-mix concrete to countless residential, commercial, and municipal development projects that shaped the region during the post-war building boom. The company remained active for decades, appearing as a prominent regional manufacturer well into the late 20th century before its operations were integrated into larger concrete firms like Metromont. This tape measure is a classic example of the promotional industrial "swag" distributed directly to contractors and job sites during the peak of the company's local footprint... Awesome piece of local north carolina advertisement..
